About Me

Dr. LeslieBeth Wish Ed. D. MSS.
Psychologist and Social Worker

(Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Florida, 7132; Maryland, 2850; Massachusetts, 3941.)

Thank you for learning more about me. As you probably read on the Home page, I greatly appreciate the professional recognition for my work with women, abuse, relationships, dating, love, marriage, divorce, career development, holidays, stress and widows, especially military widows.

(As I mentioned on the Home page, the National Association of Social Workers named me as One of Fifty Social Workers who contributed professionally to the field, Marquis' Who's Who cites me in many of their publications, and I contributed to the National Association of Social Workers' APEX award-winning issue of Special Practice Bulletin issue on the military and mental health.)

My website has also been listed as one of the Top Fifty Mom sites by www.radicalparenting.com, a terrific resource.  Additionally, a well-respected website for business women, www.wecai.org, named my Almost Smart Cookie cartoon strip as one of 101 blogs to watch.

I am also the Official Guide to Family on www.selfgrowth.com, the Number One self-improvement site on Yahoo and Google, as well as a Charter Member of the highly selective www.topwomencoaches.com.

Currently, for www.qualityhealth.com, a Top Ten Health site, I serve on the Medical Advisory Board and write a weekly column, "Relationship Realities," for their Relationships and Sexual Health newsletter.  You can receive my column by going to www.qualityhealth.com, scrolling down on their home page until you find the word Newsletter and then selecting the Relationships and Sexual Health newsletter.  I also post the column in the articles section on the right-hand side of my Home page.

I am also a Contributing writer to the National Association of Social Workers' award-winning website, www.helpstartshere.org.  To find my articles, go to the site and enter my name Dr. LeslieBeth Wish in the Contributors bar.

My other current professional activities include teaching at the Lifelong Learning Academy at the University of South Florida-Sarasota, Florida, serving on the Board of the Women's Resource Center, Sarasota, Florida, consulting to businesses, and giving workshops and lectures at professional organizations such as the various chapters of the National Association of Social Workers and for Camp Widow, the social and educational event of the Soaring Spirit and Loss Foundation, www.sslf.org.

My psychologist husband, Dr. Peter A. Wish, and I are also the Co-Directors of The Counseling Network of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which offers free counseling for grief, post-traumatic stress and family and children needs for military families and veterans.

You might also have seen my name and quotes for various publications such as USA Today, Investors Business Daily, Self, More Magazine, For the Bride, Cosmopolitan, Woman's Day, Washington Post, Disney Fun and US Weekly.  You can learn, too, from my numerous previous articles on websites such as www.networkabundance.com., www.w2wlink.com and www.wecai.org.  These sites are all terrific resources for professional women.

I first gained national prominence for my work at the New England Institute of Family Relations in Framingham, Massachusetts-the first Masters and Johnson-based sexual dysfunction clinic in New England-and my research-based book, Incest, Work and Women (under the name LeslieBeth Berger).

That book has sparked my on-going research project on the relationship problems of women, especially ages 20-40+, who are often smart about work but not love. If you are interested in being part of my research, please see the Research Invitation for women.  You will be directed to my online survey, which takes about 17 minutes to complete.  Your answers can help you and other women!  If you leave your contact information, I will enter you in a drawing to receive a free book.
